Crayon Box

I am such a bad blogger.
I know I need to work on posting more, it's just that some days go like this: work, make dinner, Yo Gabba Gabba, then bed.
Nothin' special.
But today I have a super easy, super cheap tutorial for you that's perfect for the Back to School season.
All you need is 49 crayons, a glue gun, and a box of some sort. I used a Chesapeake Bay box that a candle came in. Right now Kohl's is running one of their $10 gift promos, and this candle was $10! So I got it, and the box, for free!
Step 1: Dump your crayons out.Figure out if you're going to do a pattern or just a random layout like I did.
Step 2: Run a lineof hot glue down the side of the crayon (or on the box, whichever strikes your fancy).
Step 3: Stick it to the middle of one side. I worked outwards so the crayons on the corners would fit nicely.
Whether you're putting the glue on the crayon or the box, make sure you apply the crayons standing upright so the bottoms line up and your box will be level.
Step 4: Repeat all around the box. My box required 49 crayons which was two 24packs plus one. The good news is crayons are super cheap right now so take advantage. My grocery store (Fry's) is selling them for .25 cents right now for Back to School.
This is what the bottom looks like...
...and the top.

You're done!
This would be a great gift for a teacher as a desk organizer or a box to give a gift in. Also would be super cute on a homework desk in a kid's room. Oh the possibilities!

Happy Crafting!
And don't forget to check your mail for that Kohl's Cash! You can get your candle and box for free!

  1. That is so cute!! It would make a really cute flower vase to give my daughter's teacher some flowers for her desk on the first day of school :)
